It has been waiting for a worthy place to return.
Yōllotlālpan: The Verdant Accord was made for that return, but not inside a shallow costume of fantasy. The setting is a world that expects craft from you. It rewards attention. It punishes laziness with silence, consequences, and sometimes mist.
A World That Watches You Back
This is not a generic fantasy setting.
This is a giant-built southern empire of wet heat, painted stone, blackglass roads, canal law, sacred ceibas, jade-lit shrines, necrotic marsh, and old rites that do not ask permission to matter.
Here, architecture assumes strength. Roads carry jurisdiction as surely as distance. Death, magic, labor, and faith do not sit in separate rooms. They feed the same civic body.
The world is not passive. It remembers where blood fell.
The Accord stands upon an old premise:
Life was paid for.
Power is borrowed.
At the center of its theology rises Yaxcuahuitl [First Tree], the first visible body of the world’s living heart. Beneath its branches, breath answers blood. Root answers flesh. Law answers survival, whether the guilty enjoy that arrangement or not.
Moving through that order is Iztāc Īhiyōtl [White Breath].
Do not mistake it for fog.
It enters breath, memory, hunger, and dream. It does not always kill, because clean death would be too generous. Sometimes it leaves the beloved face intact long enough for a household to understand what has begun to wear it.
This is the pressure your character lives under.

A calli [household] is not just a home. It is a shrine, labor, inheritance, and survival.
A teocalli [temple/sacred civic structure] is not merely sacred. It may be an archive, clinic, court, calendar, or listening ear, depending on who arrives bleeding.
An ohtli [road/path] is not traveled alone. It is jurisdiction laid in stone.
Magic is common, but never trivial. Power leaves residue. Authority has a scent. A sealed door is rarely just a door.
You are not asked to memorize every rite, office, road, or old terror before joining.
You are asked one thing:
Where does your character stand in relation to this world?
